Hepatitis Victoria asks BRACE students, are you HEPReady?

Thank you to Steven Taylor from Hepatitus Victoria, who recently facilitated ‘The HEPReady AOD Workforce Workshop’ to BRACE’s CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs students.   The entertaining yet educative workshop included:   • A Hepatitis A overview   • Information regarding Hepatitis B and hepatitis C transmission routes, risk factors testing, immunisations and treatment   • Myths surrounding HBV and HCV transmission   Our students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, appreciating that the training was facilitated by a person with lived experience of hepatitis C. Human Aspects of Policing — VCAL Talk

This May, Frankston Police’s very own Constable Peter and Police Officer Neil dropped by SkillsPlus’ VCAL classrooms, for a presentation! No other reason, we promise…   Constable Peter and Police Officer Neil answered our students’ questions, with many of our students wanting to know how they themselves can become a police officer.   The Police partners cemented the importance of having a good character and reputation when applying for a role with Victoria Police. Park Ranger Geoff and his Informative Preso

Earlier this March, Frankston City’s very own Park Ranger Geoff gave SkillsPlus VCAL students the presentation of a lifetime. Equipped with some weird and wonderful props (see photos attached), Geoff spoke about the importance of maintaining our natural reserves.   Geoff described how within the City of Frankston, we are fortunate to have a wide variety of natural reserves. He then gave suggestions on how we can help, like: get a bird bath (make sure it’s high enough so cats can’t get at it), plant native plants and of course, don’t litter!   SkillsPlus would like to thank Geoff and #FrankstonCity for protecting and enhancing Frankston’s natural assets.   If you would like to chat to us about our amazing VCAL program, or any other courses, please call 9781 3388 or emai ...

Celebrating Harmony at SkillsPlus Springvale

Earlier this April, SkillsPlus Springvale celebrated the true meaning of Harmony Day, that is: the importance and AWESOMENESS of cultural diversity, through performances, fashion, and of course, food… I mean, how delicious does that buffet look?!   Rakesh Palash Saha, Training Coordinator for SkillsPlus’ SEE Program, reflects on the big event: “It was possible due to the hard work undertaken by our students, community leaders and volunteers. Their performance was inspirational in every possible way. I believe, we have given them the platform and opportunity to be proud of who they are. Being a community based provider, that’s always our goal.”   Congratulations to Rakesh, and SkillsPlus Springvale, for coordinating such an awesome Australian event! Australia is one of the m ...
