Be part of shaping the future of the Australian disability sector!
The disability sector is experiencing a boost in jobs due to the planned roll out of the NDIS. Enhance your career prospects by enrolling in our Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability). This qualification prepares you for work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres, open employment services, other community settings and in clients’ homes.
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
Job titles may include:
- Accommodation Support Worker
- Disability Support Worker
- Respite Care Worker
- Planned Activity Assistant
This course includes an integrated work placement component of a minimum of 120 hours.
Students who enrol in our Individual Support (disability) course generally complete their practical placement with Merrimu.
It is required that our students undergo a National Police Check prior to commencing the practical placement. Practical placement may not be possible if a check that is carried out contains adverse outcomes. In this instance, you may not be able to complete your qualification and your employment opportunities may be affected. If you are aware of, or concerned about anything that may appear on a Police Check, please discuss this at your enrolment interview.
This training is delivered with funding from the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments. Eligibility criteria apply or training is offered on a fee for service basis. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply. RTO Code: 3621
