Job Placements — BRACE: a Local Success Story
At BRACE, we love supporting our students to achieve their goals, and working with them on their journeys to meaningful employment. We especially love getting our students out into the community, which is why gaining life experience is the key focus of our excursions. There have been high interest levels in our programs this year, its very pleasing to note that many have attended a wide range of activities on offer. So far this year, students in our 22302VIC Certificate I in Work Education have participated in a range of excursions and activities, taking them out of their comfort zone and improving their confidence, self-esteem and independence. Here are some great examples of how our students gained that little extra “edge”, as they seek longer term and stable employment: Cr ...

Human Aspects of Policing — VCAL Talk
This May, Frankston Police’s very own Constable Peter and Police Officer Neil dropped by SkillsPlus’ VCAL classrooms, for a presentation! No other reason, we promise… Constable Peter and Police Officer Neil answered our students’ questions, with many of our students wanting to know how they themselves can become a police officer. The Police partners cemented the importance of having a good character and reputation when applying for a role with Victoria Police. They then gave suggestions on how students can prepare for a role with Victoria Police, like: gain work experience, work on communication skills, maintain a good fitness level and of course, remember that police check! SkillsPlus would like to thank Constable Peter and Police Officer Neil for protecti ...
Park Ranger Geoff and his Informative Preso
Earlier this March, Frankston City’s very own Park Ranger Geoff gave SkillsPlus VCAL students the presentation of a lifetime. Equipped with some weird and wonderful props (see photos attached), Geoff spoke about the importance of maintaining our natural reserves. Geoff described how within the City of Frankston, we are fortunate to have a wide variety of natural reserves. He then gave suggestions on how we can help, like: get a bird bath (make sure it’s high enough so cats can’t get at it), plant native plants and of course, don’t litter! SkillsPlus would like to thank Geoff and #FrankstonCity for protecting and enhancing Frankston’s natural assets. If you would like to chat to us about our amazing VCAL program, or any other courses, please call 9781 3388 or emai ...
