Park Ranger Geoff and his Informative Preso

Earlier this March, Frankston City’s very own Park Ranger Geoff gave SkillsPlus VCAL students the presentation of a lifetime. Equipped with some weird and wonderful props (see photos attached), Geoff spoke about the importance of maintaining our natural reserves.   Geoff described how within the City of Frankston, we are fortunate to have a wide variety of natural reserves. Celebrating Harmony at SkillsPlus Springvale

Earlier this April, SkillsPlus Springvale celebrated the true meaning of Harmony Day, that is: the importance and AWESOMENESS of cultural diversity, through performances, fashion, and of course, food… I mean, how delicious does that buffet look?!   Rakesh Palash Saha, Training Coordinator for SkillsPlus’ SEE Program, reflects on the big event: “It was possible due to the hard work undertaken by our students, community leaders and volunteers. Caitlin’s Journey

During 2018, SkillsPlus Frankston were fortunate enough to have many wonderful students, one of whom is Caitlin from our Senior VCAL class. Caitlin always showed respect, kindness and appreciation to other students and staff throughout her journey with us. She also displayed a very strong passion for animals and the environment.   “Throughout the year her class did a number of beach clean ups and tree planting events in collaboration with Parks Victoria. Caitlin was able to form an inroad with Morgan at Parks Victoria and commenced volunteering with her.   Morgan made sure that Caitlin experienced many different National Parks, flora/fauna, educational talks, tree planting and activities with local schools. Tips for finding work when you have disability

Being a job seeker is not always easy, and if you happen to have disability, illness or injury too, it can be an even more daunting experience. The good news is that there are plenty of companies out there that understand the benefits of an inclusive workforce, and employers that will go the extra mile to get job seekers with disability on board.     How to find work when you have disability, illness or injury:     Be aware of your rights: All employers are required by law to make any necessary changes to the workplace in order to accommodate your disability, so don’t be afraid to ask for what you need.
